Brokedown Palace A Painting About Freedom, Adventure, and Finding Beauty Along the Way
Acrylic on canvas
20 x 16 x 1.5 inches (plus frame)
Brokedown Palace is an original acrylic expressionist landscape painting inspired by the spirit of exploration, freedom, and the winding road that connects us to the natural world.
At its heart, the painting is about embracing the long strange trip of life…both the breathtaking moments and the unexpected detours. Like a road trip through unfamiliar territory, life rarely unfolds according to plan. There are twists, turns, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. Yet there is also wonder waiting around the next bend.

The painting invites viewers to slow down and reconnect with the beauty that exists in the present moment. Towering trees, vibrant colour, and an open road symbolize the freedom to follow your own path and discover what lies beyond the horizon. The landscape becomes more than a place; it becomes a reflection of possibility, curiosity, and personal growth.
As an artist, I am drawn to themes of adventure, self-discovery, and our relationship with nature. Much of my work explores the feeling of being fully alive, whether that’s found on a quiet forest road, through the energetic exchange of music (especially the Grateful Dead), or in the simple act of paying attention to the present moment.

Brokedown Palace celebrates the idea that beauty isn’t found only at the destination. It exists in the journey itself and reminds us to keep moving forward with an open heart.
